Welcome to the Sheffield Auction Gallery Furniture Department.

Furniture is auctioned every fortnight.

All manner of furniture is included in both fortnightly Antiques & Collectables Auctions, along with our quarterly Fine Auctions.

Although traditional dark wood “brown” furniture from the Georgian and Victorian eras are a little out of fashion at present, currently there is still a demand for good quality items as long as they are valued correctly. Mid-century modern design, high-quality furniture (1950s-1970s) is particularly in-vogue especially with younger buyers, driven by demand for sleek lines and functionality. The names to look out for are Ercol, G Plan, Nathan and Macintosh. Also Danish rosewood dining suites as well as designer items like Eames chairs are much sought after at auction. The Yorkshire Critters furniture who produced high quality hand carved oak furniture is always popular especially Robert Thompson, the famous “Mouseman”.

Valuers are available in the Auction Gallery for free pre-auction appraisals and advice Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm.
