TRAINEE COLLECTABLE TOYS DEPARTMENT ASSISTANTS

(Rate: 21 and over £11.44ph / 18 to 20 £8.60ph)

Hours: 3 to 5 days per week (flexible 8:30am to 4.30pm)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic people to train and develop their careers within the toy department of our modern Auction Saleroom.

The main focus of these roles is to support the valuers in the administration and running of regular monthly toy auctions.

Main duties and responsibilities include working closely with existing valuers and consultants within both the Modern and Traditional Toy departments, unpacking and sorting goods consigned for auction;

  • Traditional Toys - including, but not exclusively model railway (all gauges), diecast, tinplate, dolls & bears, lead and plastic figures, model kits, live steam models, constructional toys
  • Retro Toys - including but not exclusively retro gaming, action figures, comics, Star Wars, Lego, Barbie, Vinyl Figures, Remote Control  
  • Assistance setting up auctions and acting as viewing assistant.
  • Live Internet Bidding online operator
  • Photography; taking catalogue images for auctions

This is not an exhaustive list of what the roles may entail, and flexibility to the changing needs of the business is required.

An interest within these areas of collecting would be ideal however full training of all aspects of the roles will be provided.

The successful applicants will be comfortable working within a team and able to follow tasks required within specified timescales, interacting with customers and team members at all levels of the business. Honesty and integrity, with a positive outlook and “can do” attitude are a must.

TRAINEE SALEROOM / VALUING ASSISTANT

(Rate: 21 and over £11.44ph / 18 to 20 £8.60ph)

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm

(plus monthly Saturday auction days when scheduled)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to train and develop a career within a modern Auction Saleroom.

The main focus of this role is to support the Auction Saleroom in the administration and running of regular auctions.

Main duties and responsibilities will include;

  • General Saleroom Administration working closely with valuers, porters and auctioneers, unpacking and sorting goods consigned for auction
  • Auction Viewing and Saleday duties including assistance setting up auctions and acting as viewing assistant.
  • Live Internet Bidding online operator
  • Photography; taking catalogue images for auctions

This is not an exhaustive list of what the role may entail, and flexibility to the changing needs of the business is required.

An interest in Antiques and Collectables would be ideal however full training of all aspects of the role will be provided.

PACKING DEPARTMENT

Summary:

A new position has arisen within our very busy, in-house, Packing Department, to safely and securely pack purchased lots for shipping to Clients within the UK, and Overseas.

Job Description:

Thoroughly check each invoice to ensure the correct lot is present, fully complete as sold, and in good order.

Prepare the correct / necessary packaging materials suitable for the items.

Securely and safely pack items for safe shipping / transportation with the necessary paperwork enclosed and attached shipping labels.

Monitoring stock levels of packaging materials. 

Candidate Requirements:

The successful candidate will have;

  • A meticulous attention to detail and ability to work efficiently, unsupervised, to complete the task in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication skills and problem solving mentality.
  • Self-motivated with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Physically capable of moving and handling trolleys of goods, large boxes and standing at packing tables to complete the task.
  • Some relevant previous experience preferred.

Hours:

Initially two morning per week, across approximately 8 hours. Flexible working available.

Rate of Pay:

National living wage (age applicable)
