549.    Napoleonic War Interest - The Personal Narrative of Major William Henry Hare, 51st Regiment, 1807 to 1822. A hand written account by the Major who carried the colour at Corunna, was at the Battle of Waterloo and the Capture of Cumbray. He begins with the expedition to Corunna under Sir David Baird and their rendezvous at Falmouth. Marching near Santiago De Compostela (St Jago De Compostella), Mayorga and the arrival of a French cavalry regiment being escorted by the Hussars and placed under strong guard in a church, the junction of Sir John Moores army and Sir David Baird's army, the capture of General Charles Lefebvre Desnouettes etc. He then continues on to the Walcheren Campaign of 1809 and finally detailing personal incidents the Battle of Waterloo on June 18th, 1815 and where his wing of the regiment was on the road from Brussels To Nivelles. 71 pages, bound in black morocco, gilt spine, regiment crest to upper cover. £200-300

Inscribed to Mrs R C Bond, in a German 'Skizzen Buch' canvas covers, 18 x 25.5cms. His sketch book illustrating the North West Frontier, featuring a pen and ink sketch made during the battle at Shinkamar 1898, showing enemy positions and those of the KOYLI Battalions, ink and wash views of the Mamari and Barkai camps, with additional, more detailed vignettes of those areas.
