This ring was purchased from Tiffany & Co New York in 1997. The tourmaline is a slightly larger replacement of the original which was damaged. The original stone weighed 1.06cts as stated on the Tiffany & Co valuation issued at the time.
Named after the Brazilian state in which they are mined, the Paraiba tourmaline was only discovered in 1989. They owe their spectacular colour to a high concentration of copper, an element not previously seen in tourmaline. £4000-5000
